Pizza Rock Downtown Las Vegas![]()
The free concerts on Fremont street aren't the only rocking place in downtown Las Vegas.
Pizza Rock rolls and rocks out over 400 pizzas on weekend nights and 30 gluten free pizzas to boot. Sivan, the fabulous creator and blogger of The Olive Brunette, and I ventured off to Pizza Rock to try their gluten free pizza and we were thoroughly impressed. We met Chef Andrew in the kitchen so we could see how they create their delicious gluten free pizza. The Making of the Pizza
Chef Andrew made us the vegetarian pizza. It started off with layering on the right amount of sauce and cheese on top of the gluten free dough. Chef Andrew told us that too much cheese can ruin a pizza, and even though I'm notorious for ordering extra cheese, I must agree that the amount of cheese he put on our pizza was just perfect! We topped it off with olives and roasted bell peppers before we popped it into the dedicated gluten free oven. When it came out of the oven we added fresh goat cheese and chopped basil, which was a nice and refreshing touch.
Perfect Texture
The pizza was practically perfect in every way. It had a crispy bottom yet a doughy and chewy bite, mimicking wheat flour pizza. It's so difficult finding gluten free pizza that doesn't have a too doughy or too crunchy texture. Pizza Rock definitely nailed the texture and taste of the pizza.
Celiac Friendly?
The chefs ensured the prepped area for the gluten free pizza was free of potential gluten-y cross contamination and, as mentioned before, there's a dedicated gluten free pizza oven. As someone with Celiac disease, I felt safe to eat there.
*The pizzas are prepared in an environment where there is flour floating in the air, so please take into account your sensitivity levels. However, I did see the chefs take every precautions to ensure there was no cross contamination and I personally did not get sick from eating their pizza. Rocking Happy Hour
You can enjoy their happy hour every day from 3pm to 6pm or late night happy hour from 10pm to close. They have $4 well drinks or $2 off wines by the glass or specialty cocktails. (Just make sure to order a gluten free cocktail!) Their gluten free Italian fries are on the happy hour menu and you can enjoy with gorgonzola, truffle oil, or rosemary garlic.
Conclusion
I give the pizza a 5 out of 5. So if you're ever in downtown Las Vegas, make sure to visit Pizza Rock. It's the perfect spot for gluten free-ers to safely enjoy their gluten free pizza while friends and family enjoy the regular pizzas as well.
