I'M GOING TO GOOGLE LOCAL GUIDES SUMMIT THIS YEAR!!!
I screamed when I saw my acceptance letter. Ever since I heard about last year's summit, I made it a mission to work towards becoming a top local guide contributor.
So what is a Google Local Guide? It's like being a top Yelper, but for Google Maps. You write reviews, you add photos, answer questions about a business, and add missing places to the map. Local Guides work to make Google Maps the most robust and accurate database of information on places. And Google Maps truly earns that title.
Google provides information and connects the world and their mission aligns with mine. I want to provide information on gluten free traveling and connect gluten free-ers. Hence why I started this blog. This is also the reason I'm going to the Google Local Guides Summit. My mission as a Google Local Guide, and with this blog, is to ensure that people know where they can safely and deliciously dine gluten free. All my reviews on Google Maps notes gluten free offerings and how that business handles dietary restrictions. This is the mission I highlighted in my Google Local Guide Summit application video. Check out my video below.
I submitted my travel arrangement form for the summit and I was asked my meal preferences on the form. I LOVE that they asked, and it's smart that they do. But of course, I won't expect anything less of Google and their travel agent/arranger, Maritz.
